The liminal space between art and design has always been fertile ground for designers unafraid to work at the conceptual limits of craft and artists skirting with function. This space is bold, critical, sometimes strange, and infinitely inspiring for people in all creative fields who are searching for meaning in the objects, spaces, or images they make.
For this symposium we aimed to bring to the fore several people who have dedicated their professional careers to exploring this space and the future of design at A/D/O for NYCxDesign 2018. Speakers were Allan Wexler, Jemila MacEwan, Haresh Lalvani, Matt Clark of United Visual Artists, Leta Sobierajski & Wade Jeffree and moderated by Michael Yarinsky. Reception was within United Visual Artists installation “Spirit of the City” at A/D/O.
